JM Steel Band to Perform on State Concert

John Marshall High School’s Steel Drum Band, under the direction of Tracey Filben, has been selected to perform at the upcoming West Virginia Music Educators Association conference in Charleston.

In the state of West Virginia, John Marshall was the top high school chosen to perform for the X-Ensemble, an honors ensemble that recognizes non-traditional groups.

Tunes from many different genres will be played on the steel pans.  Some of the selections include Musical Volcano, Distractions and Jamaica Farewell.

The 15 piece Steel Drum Band’s performance will take place this Friday at 1:45 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center.

This is the second time the JM Steel Drum Band has been selected for this honor.
