The Marshall County Education Association will award a $500.00 scholarship annually to selected students to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.  The recipient’s parent or legal guardian must be a member of the Marshall County Education Association.

Three dollars of each member’s dues goes into the scholarship fund.  The number of contributions will be based on the November member reimbursement check from the West Virginia Education Association.

The MCEA President will appoint a scholarship committee to determine the recipients of the scholarships.

        a. No one may serve on the scholarship committee that has a relative eligible for the scholarship.
        b. The committee will be composed of three Marshall County Education Association members.
        c. The committee will interview all finalists.

Each applicant will submit the standard application, which will include the following:

        • Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from Student Aid Report
        • Name of institution and course of study applicant wishes to pursue.
        • Submit an up-to-date transcript of grades.
        • Applicant will attach a typewritten autobiographical sketch not to exceed 300 words, including age, interests, academic achievements,
          including honors, extra-curricular scholarship activities, community service, career goals, employment experience, and family size.

In the event there are no eligible graduating high school seniors, consideration will be given to those eligible students currently enrolled in an accredited post- secondary institution.
