The first school was on the hilltop near to where Perry Estel built his house.  At that time, the school's nickname was the Hilltoppers.  In 1907, the Central School building was erected in town.  In included 16 classrooms and an auditorium.  It was intended to be for Grades 1-12.  Dissatisfaction arose about this arrangement and the high school was moved back to the hilltop.  In the fall of 1924, the Freshmen were moved back to the basement of the Grade school due to congestion on the hill.  A gymnasium was built in 1923.
