The Mysterious Diary

Tory had been waiting six weeks for a T-shirt. When she received the box it had her name on it but a different address. She thought that maybe she should wait until her older brother, Brad, came home from work. Tory was too anxious to wait until five. Well, what could it hurt anyway? She opened the box and found a diary and a set of three keys. These keys were so mysterious.

Tory slipped one of the keys inside the lock of the diary. All of a sudden a green glow came out of the keyhole. She dropped it to the floor. As it tumbled to the floor the glow was still bright. When it fell open, there were no words. Leaving Tory in suspense she nervously picked up the diary. Her hands were so shaky that she thought she was going to drop it again.

When she finally got a good grasp on the diary she shut it and laid it on the bed. She tossed the keys. She remembered she had an old, brown trunk that her grandmother had given her, only there were no keys to unlock it. Since there were three keys on the silver ring she decided to try one.

She walked over to the trunk that was sitting in the corner. Tory just tossed old school papers and an old picture of her friend Jackie and her family onto the floor. She stuck the key in, remembering what had happened when she placed the key in the diary. She ignored it and pushed the key in anyway. Could it happen again? As the key went in it started to glow.

She slowly opened the lid of the trunk. Inside she found a note that said, "IF YOU DARE, OPEN THE DIARY ONCE MORE." Tory walked over to the bed and picked up the diary. She went back over to the trunk and kneeled down to finish reading the note. "THIS DIARY IS TO BE WITH YOU ALL THE TIME. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WRITE IN THIS DIARY!" What did the words mean? She opened the diary and it repeated the words of the note! Tory looked at the diary and said, "I wish there was another world outside of my closet door." All of a sudden, the diary stopped glowing and seemed normal, but said "TAKE ANOTHER LOOK." Tory walked over to the closet. She slowly opened the door, not knowing what was inside. As the door opened she saw grass. It looked like another world. Was it there or was it her imagination?

Suddenly her bedroom door opened and Brad walked in. "What are you doing, Sis?" Tory slammed the closet door shut. "Oh, nothing," replied Tory. "Okay. Well, I thought I would let you know I’m home from work," said Brad. Brad shut her bedroom door. Tory ran over to her window and threw the diary out. Instead of hitting the ground, it vanished; not into thin air, but as a solid white dove! She went over to her bed and sat on the edge still thinking; all she wanted was a simple T-shirt, not a day of wonders!
