 Dear Parents,

 The faculty and staff of Center McMechen support the decision to change the school schedule to allow time for teacher collaboration.  During this time our teachers will work in teams for 45-60 minutes to meet the following objectives:

 1.  To secure grade level “teacher teams” to focus on classroom practice and student progress.
 2.  To ensure the maximum progress of each student by discussing weekly results of teacher         instruction and student learning by using common assessments.
 3.  To plan new instruction by placing students in flexible groups to maximize interventions for               struggling students and enrichment for students ready to advance.
As a result of the schedule changes for Marshall County Schools we at Center McMechen will adjust our schedule as follows:

CENTER MCMECHEN ELEMENTARY 2010-2011 SCHEDULE
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (Early Start)
7:20 AM First Bus Arrives and Breakfast is Served
7:50 AM Students Report to Classrooms
7:55 AM Last Bus Arrives
8:05 AM School Day Begins (Attendance is Recorded)
(First Bus Arrives at 7:20 AM and Early Walkers Allowed in the Building)

WEDNESDAY SCHEDULE (All Year)  DELAYED START
8:15 AM First Bus Arrives and Breakfast is Served
8:00-8:50 Grade Level Group and Academic Games as Students Enter
8:50 AM Students Report to Classrooms
8:55 AM Last Bus Arrives
9:05 AM School Day Begins (Attendance is Recorded)

Because the delayed start may be an inconvenience for parents we are making arrangements for students who need to arrive early.  However, I ask parents to make every effort to schedule student arrival between 8:15 and 8:50 AM.

7:30 AM To accommodate early arrivals the school building will be open and supervision for students will be in gym/cafeteria and in grade level group activities.  Breakfast schedule to be announced.
