Student - Parent Handbook
Arrival and Dismissal
No students are permitted in the building until the first bus arrives, usually after 7:30.  Students arriving before then must wait outside.  Dress appropriately for the weather.

• Instruction begins at 8:15.  Students should be in their seats, unpacked, with materials ready to go before 8:15.  (Some classes have Daily Do Nows which are expected to be completed shortly after 8:20.)  Therefore, students should not arrive later than 8:10.

• Walkers or students who are dropped off should not arrive before 8:00 unless they are eating breakfast at school.  Students should be dropped off on Marshall St. to avoid a congested parking lot.

• Breakfast is not served after 8:10.  If your child is to eat a school breakfast he/she should arrive before then.  Breakfast must be completed and the child in his/her class before 8:15.

• Students entering the building after announcements (8:20) are marked tardy.  Arriving late puts your child at a disadvantage and has her/him playing catch-up all morning. They also create an interruption for the rest of the class and the teachers's routine. This is not fair to the other students. Students are learning a job skill and responsibility by arriving on time.

• Parents may not accompany their children to the classroom.  All visitors/parents must first sign-in at the office and get a Visitor’s Pass.  Teachers are very busy during this time of the morning and are expected to begin class at 8:20.  If you need to see the teacher please make an appointment.

• The Dismissal Bell rings at 2:50.  If you are picking your child up at this time please wait outside at the end of the playground fence.  Waiting in the hall is disruptive and interferes with the orderly dismissal of the bus lines. Bus departutres begin at 2:55.

• When picking up your child for early dismissal (doctor’s appointment) please report to the office and sign-out your child.  Your child will be called to the office.  You may not go directly to the class and interrupt the lessons.

• Children will not be released to any adult except the parent unless the parent has indicated previously in writing or by phone call who will be picking the child up that day.

• If your child is ill and you are unavailable, we will call the persons indicated by you on the Emergency Information Form to pick up the child.
