Message to Teachers --  Please take some time to ensure that you have provided your students with the CIPA (Child Internet Protection Act) lessons and recorded their completion in WOW.  Erate REQUIRES that we provide Internet safety lessons to our students in order to qualify for federal funding for internet service purposes.  We can lose funding if we are not 100% compliant!  Internet for our county costs almost $250,000.00 a year.  Erate will reimburse 80% of that if we meet their requirements - these reimbursements then become part of the technology budget for our schools.  In addition to the financial necessity to complete these lessons, the lessons are very beneficial to our students.  The digital landscape is becoming more and more difficult and dangerous to navigate -- we must give our students the tools they need to be safe online.

Grades K-5 are required to complete a minimum of 1 lesson per student

Grades 6-8 are required to complete a minimum of 2 lessons per student

Grades 9-12 are required to complete a minimum of 1 lesson per student

WVDE and Common Sense Media have partnered to provide us with lessons that will meet the CIPA requirements.  This will make compliance much easier as lessons have already been designed and evaluated.

Please use the link below to access the Common Sense Media site to see the required lesson(s) for your grade and the WOW link to access the CIP.AUP menu to certify your completion.

Thank you for your efforts to keep our students safe!
