NASA Engineer Talks to GDES 4th Graders

Lorie Massie Keller, a graduate of John Marshall High School and Contamination Control Engineer for NASA’s Launch Services Program (LSP), spoke to the 4th grade students at Glen Dale Elementary School. Topics covered were LSP’s most recent launches, available launch vehicles on the commercial market and different careers that are available at NASA LSP.

The latest mission, Europa Clipper, launched on October 14, 2024, is going to the moon of Jupiter. They are going to study for the potential of supporting life on Europa. This mission was used as an example to explain concepts and ideas.

The students were very engaged and asked lots of questions. It provided an opportunity for the students to learn more about space exploration.
