The Marshall County Schools Transportation Department held its annual School Bus Safety Road-E-O at Grand Vue on Thursday, April 2, 2026. The competition not only took place at a new location, it featured an all-new course and setup.
The School Bus Safety Road-E-O is an important part of West Virginia Department of Education Policy 4336. The state code makes sure county school transportation administrators provide, as part of a school bus operator’s in-service training, some type of skill development exercise in bus handling. The Road-E-O is a fun, hands-on way bus drivers can practice skills and win prizes.
At the county event, in the Small Bus category, Britta Hill captured first place followed by Terry Harding in second place and third place went to Mark Miller. Wayne Nulph drove away with a first-place plaque in the Large Bus division while Ashley Becker finished second and Pat McConnell took third place. Ashley Huggins grabbed first place in the Substitute Bus Driver portion of the competition.
For the second year in a row, Britta Hill collected the overall highest score with 564 points, out of a possible 700.
First, second and third place winners in each category at this year’s Marshall County Schools School Bus Safety Road-E-O are eligible to participate in the WV School Bus Safety Road-E-O, hosted by Kanawha County, on Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12, 2026, at Chapmanville Regional High School.
