Grisell Funeral Home has once again demonstrated its commitment to the local community with a generous $4,000 donation to support the Marshall County Special Olympics, held on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The contribution covered the cost of event t-shirts for more than 350 participants, including athletes, peer tutors, and adult volunteers. This is not the first time Grisell Funeral Home has stepped up to ensure the success of the event. The organization previously provided funding for t-shirts in 2012, continuing a tradition of community involvement that has had a lasting impact on the games.
Catherine Folmar and Lori Caldwell, the outgoing co-coordinators of the Marshall County Special Olympics, expressed their deep appreciation for the donation. They emphasized that without the generosity of Grisell Funeral Home, providing t-shirts for participants would not have been possible this year.
“Events like these depend heavily on community support,” Folmar and Caldwell said. “Marshall County is fortunate to have organizations like Grisell’s that consistently give back.”
As they step down from their roles, Folmar and Caldwell also welcomed Kelsey Allen and Candace McBee as the incoming co-coordinators. They expressed confidence in the new leadership, noting that the athletes will continue to be in capable hands.
Reflecting about their time with the Special Olympics, Folmar and Caldwell shared that they will always cherish the opportunity to help organize and support such a meaningful event for the community. The Marshall County Special Olympics remains a shining example of how local partnerships and generosity can create lasting opportunities for athletes and volunteers alike.
