The nationally acclaimed Bully Free BMX USA, a division of Northern Air, brought its high-energy action and powerful message of inclusion to Sherrard Middle School.

Top action sports athletes performed gravity-defying tricks while they delivered a critical anti-bullying message directly to the middle school students.

The interactive performance combined world-class extreme sports with an impactful educational program. Utilizing a mobile BMX ramp set up on the school’s parking lot, professional riders showcased backflips, tail whips and 360s. Between stunts, athletes shared personal stories about overcoming adversity, the psychological impact of bullying and the importance of creating a supportive school community.

The Bully Free BMX USA assembly focused on proactive solutions to bullying. The program encouraged students to become "upstanders" rather than bystanders, offering concrete tools to navigate social media bullying and peer pressure. Sherrard Middle School administrators, faculty and staff viewed the exhibition as a vital addition to their ongoing student wellness and school spirit initiatives.

“Our goal was to host this presentation early in the school year to set a strong tone-encouraging kindness, unity and bullying prevention among our students,” explained SMS Principal Jason Willis. “In addition, we are exploring the possibility of introducing a school-wide initiative centered around kindness and anti-bullying, reinforcing the message that kindness is the new cool.”

The event was put together thanks to the Sherrard Middle School Boosters. Also, during the show, each student received a free meal voucher courtesy of Buffalo Wild Wings in Moundsville.
