Get ready for a weekend of laughter, friendship, and a little bit of chaos as John Marshall High School’s Monarch Company presents Neil Simon’s classic comedy, The Odd Couple (Female Version), on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the John Marshall High School Center for Performing Arts.
Set in New York City during the 1980s, this hilarious comedy follows two very different women who find themselves sharing an apartment. Olive Madison is carefree, messy, and perfectly content with her disorganized lifestyle. Her friend Florence Unger, on the other hand, is neat and determined to keep everything in its proper place. When Florence moves in with Olive following the breakdown of her marriage, their clashing personalities lead to a series of comical situations, unforgettable arguments, and plenty of laughs.
Along the way, audiences will meet a colorful group of friends gathered for their weekly Trivial Pursuit games, as well as two charming Spanish brothers who add even more confusion and comedy to the roommates’ already complicated lives.
The production features Sadi Willis as Olive Madison and Cheyenne Harvey as Florence Unger. Joining them are Ella Games as Vera, Chloe Pickett as Mickey, Emeline Hyde as Sylvie, Abby Rowe as Renee, Mason Boyette as Manolo Costazuela, and Gavin Pickett as Jesus Costazuela. Janelle Farmer and Lorelei Wycherley serve as the production’s female understudies.
The production is directed and designed by Elaina DePetro, with Nathan Woodring serving as Technical Director. Matt Ali, along with his Career and Technical Education Carpentry students, have helped bring the production's set to life. Student carpenters include Joshua Adkins, Hayden Bonar, Hank Horvath, Malachi Newlen, Christian Stanley, Graeme Stevey, Gavin Taylor, and Liam Vetanze.
Behind the scenes, students are taking on important leadership and technical roles to make the production possible. Ella Games serves as Student Director. Sophie Phillips operates the lighting board. Ruby Hunter is part of the sound team, and Emma Hill and Lyra Wycherley serve on the run crew. Together, the cast and crew have worked to recreate the atmosphere of a 1980s New York City apartment, complete with period-inspired scenery, props, and costumes.
Audiences can expect an entertaining trip back to the 1980s, complete with nostalgic details, witty dialogue, and the timeless humor that has made The Odd Couple a beloved theatrical comedy for generations.
